A non-profit dedicated to increasing photography access, education, and visual literacy. The partial below-grade space needed to accommodate many uses for the young but growing non-profit including classroom, gallery, library, storage, lighting studio, darkroom and digital facilities, retail, and co-working desks. Incorporating this variety of uses in the limited area required some ingenuity in combining dedicated space for the distinct programs of photo processing, with easily mutable, but highly functional multipurpose spaces for other uses. The space was grounded with an open-concept co-work/gallery/retail and reception space flowing into a glowing central library and display corridor. The dedicated functions were clustered together to allow maximum flexibility for the other uses, allowing the classroom/studio space to be opened to the main public spaces for gallery openings and other larger events.
